Hoop & Griffin
In the heart of the historic yet trendy seaside town of Deal is Hoop & Griffin, a handsome Georgian townhouse steeped in nearly 200 years of coastal heritage. Once the residential quarters of a historic coaching inn and later a seamen's rest house, this characterful property has recently been renovated, bringing fresh, contemporary interiors to a charming historic home. Sleeping seven guests across three bedrooms, it is an ideal place for families, groups of friends or golfers looking to explore Deal and the Kent coast. The house sits in a prime position on Deal's historic seafront, boasting wonderful sea views and the beach just moments from the front door. Step inside and you'll find a bright, newly renovated open-plan kitchen and dining area, which is well equipped for cooking and entertaining. There is a comfortable sitting room, with an original exposed brick fireplace adding plenty of character and charm. The small courtyard garden is a lovely spot for morning coffee. Upstairs, a second sitting room offers another lovely space to relax with a book, while admiring the views over the English Channel. Leading through this room is a twin bedroom at the rear of the house, with access to a small roof terrace. A family bathroom with a bath and overhead shower completes this floor. On the top floor are two beautifully presented bedrooms, both with their own modern en-suite walk in shower rooms. The principal bedroom has a super-king size bed and Juliet balcony doors opening to enjoy the fresh sea air and lovely views of Deal's iconic Pier. The second bedroom offers a flexible sleeping arrangement with a king size bed and an additional single, ideal for families or groups of golfers. Hoop & Griffin is a wonderfully quirky property that shows its age in all the right ways, with steep, characterful stairs and plenty of period charm throughout, now complemented by bright, modern interiors. With three bathrooms and two separate sitting rooms, there is plenty of space for everyone to relax and feel at home. While there isn't any private parking, you can unload just outside for a short while, or park in the seafront parking bays opposite the house.

There is unrestricted free parking on the seafront (where there are no parking signs). You can double park outside the property for a short time to unload the car.
The stairs inside the house are steep and typical of an old cottage in the conservation area. There are also a couple of steps up into the front door.

- We would respectfully ask that the following house rules are adhered to, to avoid any damages. Should any damages arise please note charges may apply.
- Please note check out is 10am. Please ensure you vacate on time to allow our housekeepers to enter the property and prepare it for the next guests.
- Smoking or vaping is not permitted inside or outside the property at any time. Please no charging of vapes or e-scooters.
- Please note for insurance purposes the number of guests must not exceed the total occupancy of the house.
- For fire safety reasons please do not use any candles in the property.
- Please be respectful to neighbours. Quiet hours are between 11pm and 9am.
- Parties and loud music are not permitted.
- Hen and Stag parties are not permitted.

Yes, Hoop and Griffin is the perfect family home. Please note that the full length windows, and roof terrace are suitably secured with metal railings, making them safe for everyone.
There is no private or allocated parking at the property, but there are plenty of parking options nearby. Firstly, you can pull up outside, along Griffin Street, and double park when unloading or packing the car. Secondly, you can park along the seafront which offers both free and paid for parking. All free parking is accessible past the rowing club, which is around a 3 minute walk from the house. Lastly, there are free roads that offer 24/7 parking, such as Sandown Road or College Road, which are about a 3 to 5 minute walk from the house, depending on where you find a space.
Yes, the house is dog friendly, and has an enclosed decked courtyard at the back of the house, which can be accessed from the kitchen or dining room. The beach is over the road, and dog friendly all year round.

It is easy to see why Deal is such a popular seaside destination, with its iconic pier, pretty pastel-coloured houses, rich history and wonderful selection of restaurants, wine bars, cafés and independent shops. Enjoy long walks along the seafront towards Sandwich in one direction or Kingsdown in the other, where you'll be rewarded with views of the chalky White Cliffs. Be sure to stop at the Zetland Arms for a bite to eat along the way! Hoop & Griffin is located right in the centre of it all, with the beach on your doorstep and the high street just a short stroll away through the pretty streets of Deal's conversation area.

Deal Pier
Kent’s last surviving leisure pier, opened by the Duke of Edinburgh in 1957. Walk its length for sea views, cast a line, or stop at Deal Pier Kitchen at the far end. On a clear day you can see France.
Cycle to Kingsdown
Take the flat coastal path from Deal to Kingsdown, ideal for walking or cycling. Pass Walmer Castle & Gardens, explore Kingsdown’s beautiful beaches and seafront, including The Zetland Arms. Hire bikes locally from Hut 55.

Deal has not one but three Tudor castles built by Henry VIII, namely Deal, Walmer and Sandown. The first two you can visit whilst Sandown (of which only a few stones remain) is on the cycle path that follows the coast.
